1. No purchase of any kind is required to enter WWF’s Hidden Heroes Competition (“the Competition”);
2. By entering the Competition, you accept these Terms and Conditions and agree to the use of your full entry, or extracts of, in editorial publicity and online;
3. The Competition is open to UK residents only, excluding WWF-UK employees and anyone else professionally connected with the Competition;
4. Entry to the Competition will open on 15 January 2013 and close at 11.59pm on 4 March 2013. Any entries received after this date will not be eligible to win;
5. Entry to the Competition requires the person submitting the nomination (“the entrant”) to provide the following information:
- Their full name, email address and if possible, phone number;
- Details of the person they are nominating (“the nominee”): name, age (if under 18), link between entrant and nominee (for example friend, colleague or relative), location (nearest town/city) plus their written submission (no more than 300 words);
6. Entrants must be 18 and over and may choose to nominate themselves;
7. Entrants must have the permission of the nominee to enter the Competition;
8. Where nominees are under 18, the entrant must have permission from his/her parent(s) or legal guardian to enter the Competition;
9. There are three categories to the Competition:
- Individuals – for entrants nominating an individual to whom they are linked through the community (for example a friend, relative or neighbour);
- Schools or youth groups – for entrants nominating an individual for their contribution specifically associated with/linked to a school or youth group (for example a pupil, head teacher or teacher);
- Workplace – for entrants nominating individuals directly associated with / linked to a place of work / business or organisation (for example employees, colleagues);
10. Each category will have one winning entry. In the week commencing 4 March 2013, each submission will be reviewed by a judging panel – with the winning entrants notified via email or telephone by 11 March 2013;
11. The winning entrants will be chosen based on the following criteria:
- Evidence/testimonial of the actions taken by the nominee in their community, school/youth group or workplace that have made a tangible difference in support of the environment;
- Uniqueness of the entry;
- How well the nominee’s actions align with/help communicate the issues that WWF works on;
12. Details of the Hidden Heroes will be published on wwf.org.uk/earthhour by 15 March 2013;
14. The Hidden Heroes will each receive the sum of £500 to support a green initiative. Where the Hidden Hero is under 18, it will be given to his/her parent(s) or legal guardian;
15. The Hidden Heroes (plus a chosen guest) will be invited to attend an exclusive event in central London on the night of Earth Hour, 23 March 2013 (reasonable train travel and subsistence expenses will be covered by WWF-UK);
16. The Hidden Heroes agree to being photographed and filmed by WWF-UK and the media for use in advertising, editorial publicity and online by WWF-UK and its connected third parties;
17. The Hidden Heroes hereby agree to their names being published on the WWF-UK website in association with the Competition;
18. WWF-UK will not enter into correspondence with any unsuccessful entrants and WWF-UK’s decision will be final;
19. The Competition is organised by WWF-UK;
20. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and you and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England.
