WWF's Earth Hour for schools
We need you!
Join schools across the UK and switch off and support WWF’s Earth Hour on Saturday 27 March 2010 at 8.30pm. Over 1000 schools have already signed up!
We want a billion people around the world to switch off their lights for one hour – WWF’s Earth Hour - show you care about climate change.
Schools have an important role to play in championing action on climate change. It’s the young people in our schools today who will live through the worst – or best – effects of the action we take now on climate change. And today’s students will be tomorrow’s citizens and decision-makers: we need to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to make wise choices about the future of our planet.
As Earth Hour takes place on a Saturday, most schools hold their own Earth Hour on the day before and we had lots of feedback on how successful this was. WWF will be publishing a toolkit for schools in January 2010. Register your school now!
You can also encourage pupils to take part at home at 8.30pm on 27 March by switching off their lights and marking the event in other ways.
Getting involved – free resources from WWF
To help schools to connect with WWF’s Earth Hour, we are producing a range of resources. A free resource pack for schools is now available for all schools that have signed up. Sign up your school now.
