WWF’s Earth Hour Community Competition Terms & Conditions
1. No purchase of any kind is required to enter WWF’s Earth Hour Competition (“the Competition”);
2. The Competition is open to UK residents only, excluding WWF-UK employees and anyone else professionally connected with the Competition;
3. Entrants must be 18 and over to enter the Competition;
4. To enter the Competition, an entrant must enter the form on wwf.org.uk/earthhour and describe, in no more than 300 words, why his/her Community should win to lead the UK switch off;
5. The Community must comprise of a minimum of six people. The Community can be connected in any way, e.g. through location such as a street or village or interests such as a sports club or youth group;
6. Entrants must supply the following information in order to register for the Competition: Full name, email address, telephone number and home town (a full postal address will be required from the winner);
7. Entry to the Competition will open on 16 December 2011 and close by midnight on 27 February 2012. Any entries received after this date will not be eligible to win the prize but will still be registered to the Earth Hour campaign;
8. The winning Community will be awarded the accolade of the Community to lead the UK Earth Hour switch off; The winning Community will also be awarded the sum of £1000 to use for his/her Earth Hour Event or to support a sustainable initiative for the Community;
9. There is a national competition for community groups in Wales, Scotland and NI to lead the switch off in their countries and they will receive £300 towards their event. However if a community group in Wales, Scotland or NI is selected to be the UK switch off winner they will receive the £1000 cash prize and not £1300.
10. There are no prize alternatives available;
11. WWF-UK reserves the right to withdraw winning status at any time and select an alternative winner, should it be deemed that the existing winner is unsuitable to represent the WWF-UK brand in any way;
12. The winning Community agrees to hold an event for the duration of Earth Hour on 31 March 2012;
13. The winning Community agrees to being photographed and filmed by WWF-UK and the media for use in advertising, editorial publicity and online by WWF-UK and its connected third parties;
14. The winning Community hereby agrees to their names being published on the WWF-UK website in association with the Competition;
15. By entering, you agree to have at least one spokesperson willing and able to partake in media interviews during the Competition period, on the night of Earth Hour and post event.
16. By entering you agree to the use of your full entry, or extracts of, in media and on WWF-UK’s websites;
17. The winning entry will be selected by WWF-UK. Ideas will be judged on the following criteria:
o Actions the Community or individuals within it have taken or will take to be sustainable;
o Ability to promote the Earth Hour event to a wide audience;
o Uniqueness/Fun;
o How well the idea communicates the issues that WWF works on;
18. WWF-UK will not enter into correspondence with any unsuccessful entrants;
19. WWF-UK will notify the winner via telephone or email by 12 March 2012;
20. Details of the winner will be published on wwf.org.uk/earthhour by 19 March 2012;
21. The entrant takes full responsibility and liability for his/her Earth Hour event and his/her Community. On no account will WWF-UK be liable in any manner whatsoever for such events;
22. The Competition is organised by WWF-UK.
23. These Terms and Conditions shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and you and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of England.
